Day 1: Amritsar to Narkanda

Your journey begins from Amritsar as you head towards Narkanda, passing through Chandigarh and Shimla. The drive gradually takes you from plains to hills with scenic views of forests and mountains. For this route, travellers can easily hire a private taxi for comfort or opt for a tempo traveller if traveling in a group, as both options are commonly available from Amritsar for Spiti tours. Upon arrival, relax and acclimatize to the cool mountain weather.

Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla

After breakfast, continue towards the beautiful Sangla Valley in Kinnaur. The drive offers stunning views of the Sutlej River and dramatic mountain landscapes. This route is well-suited for both taxis and tempo travellers, and many tour providers offer reliable vehicles with experienced drivers. Reach Sangla by evening and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Day 3: Sangla to Chitkul to Kalpa

Start your day by visiting Chitkul, the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border, known for its untouched beauty. Later, proceed towards Kalpa, famous for views of the Kinner Kailash range. The roads are narrow but manageable, and taxis or tempo travellers with skilled drivers are ideal for this stretch. Overnight stay in Kalpa.

Day 4: Kalpa to Tabo

Today, you enter the Spiti region as you drive towards Tabo via Nako village and Gue (known for the naturally preserved mummy). The terrain becomes rugged and more remote. It is recommended to hire experienced drivers with taxis or tempo travellers specifically suited for high-altitude roads. Reach Tabo and explore the ancient monastery.

Day 5: Tabo to Dhankar to Kaza

Explore Tabo Monastery in the morning, then head to Dhankar, a spectacular cliff-top village with historic significance. Continue your journey to Kaza, the main hub of Spiti Valley. Day 6: Kaza Local Sightseeing

Spend the day exploring nearby attractions like Key Monastery, Hikkim (the world’s highest post office), Langza, and Komic villages. These routes involve steep climbs and rough roads, so hiring a reliable taxi or tempo traveller with a local driver is highly recommended for safety and comfort. Return to Kaza for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal Lake
